The Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Award was established in the UK in 1998 and as since been recognizing the contribution of reggae/dancehall artists contribution to the music over the years. Damian Marley and Chronixx are also both nominated in the Best Reggae Album category at the upcoming 60th annual Grammy Awards. This is Damian Marley’s second MOBO Award. Minister of Culture, Gender Entertainment and Sport Olivia Grange, has issued a statement congratulating the reggae/dancehall deejay for the win. She said that all those artists are worthy of the award but ultimately there can only be one winner.
